HelpDutiesThe selectee will serve as a Protection Officer in the Office of Protective Operations.
Typical work assignments include:
Monitoring and operating various audio/visual communications equipment, alarm systems, and access gates to the facility or residence; utilizing security screening procedures (e.
g.
, magnetometer and x-ray screening technology) prior to allowing individuals entrance to a secured area and controls access of visitors and contractors.
Conducting inspections of facilities to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory security protocol and guidance; and conducting inspections of utilized security devices following applicable procedures and policies.
Preparing written reports for all activities, observations, and incidents; advising leadership on how to improve security gaps to increase the safety of occupants and/or visitors to facilities; and responding to persons or groups exhibiting suspicious or threatening behavior.
Detecting and identifying suspicious packages that necessitates coordination with canine and/or Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.

QualificationsGS-7:
You qualify for the GS-7 level (starting base salary $41,966) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; and patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access.
GS-8:
You qualify for the GS-8 level (starting base salary $46,475) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access; operating security monitoring devices (e.
g.
, magnetometers and x-ray screening technology); and responding to various types of security situations (e.
g.
, inappropriate or suspicious behavior or activity).
GS-9:
You qualify for the GS-9 level (starting base salary $51,332) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access; operating security monitoring devices (e.
g.
, magnetometers and x-ray screening technology); responding to various types of security situations (e.
g.
, inappropriate or suspicious behavior or activity); developing reports for leadership outlining identified deficiencies; detaining persons; and detecting and identifying suspicious packages.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.

, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.

, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
